As it steps up publishing efforts, Warner Bros. has revealed its first post-EA Lord of the Rings game, the family-friendly LOTR: Aragorn's Quest, which will be making an appearance at E3 next month.

[...]

According to the information, the title will have "accessible gameplay set in a friendly, colorful rendition of Middle-Earth. Players assume the role of Strider and embark on his greatest quests from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The game offers authentic, action-oriented sword fighting, lancing and archery that all ages can play together."

Hmm... I'm not too interested in this myself, but I'm curious what their "friendly, colorful" version of Middle Earth is going to look like.

I'm not sure what it means to say "family-friendly", since it still has action violence. Maybe it just means there's no pipe-smoking and brew-drinking, as in LOTR Online.

I suppose as long as it's not japanimed then it's OK, because I love most anything Middle-earth, but I can't say yay or nay until I see it.

New trailer for it here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2009/dec/14/lord-of-the-rings-aragorns-quest-trailer

I'm surprised by how many of the in-game scenes seem to be direct copies of things from the movie.

Looking very colourful indeed, judging from a couple of screens I got to see when I googled it.

It looks a lot like an animated movie, actually, without the realism most games seem to aim for these days. I guess that's where the family friendliness comes from.

Emmie, I don't know if it really is that surprising that a lot of the stuff is a copy from the movies. After all, New Line's a licensee, apparently, of Warner Brothers. And the game's from WB.

I've been checking out trailers for this game again, since I noticed on Lord of the Rings.net that it's actually being developed for the Wii. Not sure how I missed that before, but...

I think I might actually buy this game. I've been enjoying Zelda on my Wii in any case, so this could be lots of fun as well. :D

Yeah, if I had a supported system I might try it too, I suppose. :) I was looking around the website, which I hadn't seen before: http://www.aragornsquest.com/

Aye, that's where I have ended up as well. Unfortunately I could not find any information concerning release date in Europe, but then, I still need to finish Zelda anyways, so I can wait.

It looks a good game,
although I do blame,
my lack of money with disdain.
But all the same,
it looks a good game!

(A friend has this on Wii- it's rather enjoyable!)
