The New Zealand tourist board is expecting The Hobbit, the new film based on JRR Tolkien's book, to have a similar effect on tourism in the country to the hugely successful Lord of the Rings movies.

There doesn't seem to be much new information, but I found it interesting nevertheless (didn't know the annual visitors number, for instance).

Has anyone ever been to New Zealand? Or thought about visiting in the future?

I think there are a lot of other places I would like to visit first, even if I did have the time and money, but from what I've seen it's a really beautiful place and I'd like to visit someday.

Well, good for New Zealand! I just hope their nice beautiful land isn't trashed by tourists.

I'd love to visit that place, though like you there are other places I want to see first. I have a friend in Greece I want to go visit, and I'd love to see Ireland. I also want to go to Hong Kong.

Also, I still haven't seen New York City, and I live in the USA!
