The New Zealand tourist board is expecting The Hobbit, the new film based on JRR Tolkien's book, to have a similar effect on tourism in the country to the hugely successful Lord of the Rings movies.

There doesn't seem to be much new information, but I found it interesting nevertheless (didn't know the annual visitors number, for instance).
Has anyone ever been to New Zealand? Or thought about visiting in the future?
I think there are a lot of other places I would like to visit first, even if I did have the time and money, but from what I've seen it's a really beautiful place and I'd like to visit someday.
