I am so new here that probably I shine. It's difficult to shine as new member but I try.
I found link to this forum on some fantasy website - I don't like to participate in other people's forums so I didn't want to join at first but it looks like I failed. I think you did wonderful job with this site so I just had to become part of it.

I am young pal from Poland but my roots are in Norway when I was born. Maybe fantasy is not my primary hobby (science-fiction is my first and only love) but I really like it. I am cats breeder and my English is terrible so forgive simplicity of my posts and possible mistakes.

Good morning starshine, the Earth says hello!

Welcome Crichton! I'm glad you joined and I hope you find us worth the risk! :D Plenty of room for sci-fi lovers here too. :)

Naah, I know you are worth it, my decisions are always right and if not I just don't care :D (modesty is my strong point...).

Thank you for welcome.

Welcome! Great to have you here. Feel free to PM me if you have questions or feedback relating to the site.

I read some science fiction myself, even if I seem to read more fantasy (and other genres) - I found a copy of Dune at my local library sale, so I'm going to finally be reading that just as soon as I have time. :)

I know you made a post in the fantasy books thread, but do you have any other favorite sci-fi books I ought to read? (Or films, even?)

I have plenty of good books I can recommend :) From science-fiction genre you should read Eden trilogy. It's a vision of world where dinosaurs didn't extinct and humans didn't evolve. These dinosaurs walk on feet and think like scientists. It's very epic saga, I can even compare it to LoTR - the world that Harry Harrison made is huge and rich.
From fantasy...maybe The Black Magician Trilogy, very nice reading by Trudi Cannavan.

You can send this post to this other thread if you want ^^

Hello Crichton, welcome!

Are you a man or a woman? I'm asking because as far as I can tell, I'm the only man here. If you are a man... go away!

Just kidding. :)

Emmie, years ago I used to read sci-fi, and one of my favorites were the Known Space series of stories and novels by Larry Niven. They're a bunch of loosely connected stories, many with common characters and/or references, and I thought they were very creative, with a good dose of humor. They're not called Known Space, except for maybe one or two that might have that in the title, but I don't think so. Anyway, a quick Google will give you all the info you need if you're interested.

By the way, Dune is probably the best sci-fi I ever read.

Hehehe ^^

Good day sunshine, I need to laugh, and when the sun is out
I've got something I can laugh about
I feel good, in a special way
I'm in love and it's a sunny day
