Martin Freeman as Bilbo?

As you may have already read, there's been a bit of casting news regarding Martin Freeman recently. To recap:

Then, TheOneRing.net reported that he was definitely the first choice for Bilbo "as early as last year", although they didn't know if the rest of the Sun story was true. [link (http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2010/09/07/38360-martin-freeman-was-first-choice-for-bilbo/)]


Now, Entertainment Weekly is saying that a new shooting timeline has been proposed to Martin Freeman and that he may end up getting the role after all. [link (http://popwatch.ew.com/2010/09/08/hobbit-martin-freeman/)]
What do you guys think? Is it likely that he'll get the part? Do we want him to?

Either way, it's exciting to finally have some casting news. :)

I could totally support that :D I don't think I would have thought of him on my own, but I think he could fit the role well. He definitely fits the look.

Yeah, he does look the part. I've seen him in The Office and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galexy, but if he ends up being cast as Bilbo I'm sure I'll want to see them again (and see Sherlock for the first time).

I also like the fact that he isn't hugely famous.

Although, it's funny that after all this time and all this speculation, the top choice ended up being one of the names that was tossed around from close to the beginning. :p

I will definitely have to see it. I was just reading the other thread about it, I hadn't heard much about it before now.

I mainly remember Martin Freeman from Hitchhiker's Guide to teh Galexy. I think he should be good though.
