there was a competition on theonering.net and was the question about the favourite scene from LOTR movies
(I was upset that only American were allowed to participate, grrr, what a shame)

However, are you able to pick up only one -the best, favourite scene from all movies?
Or there are few of them and which ones would it be? (lets return to the Middle Earth once again..)

Hmm, good question. Going from memory my favorites would be:

The Fellowship of the Ring - Probably the scenes in the Shire
The Two Towers - The ending, including Sam's voiceover and the ents destroying Isengard
The Return of the King - Lighting of the beacons was pretty great

I'll have to think about it more, though, and maybe re-watch parts of my DVDs. I might come up with more.

What are your favorites?

There are so many great scenes that it's really hard to choose. I do agree with what Emmie said, though. The scenes from the shire in the first movie were all fun, seeing the comfort-loving hobbits drinking the tea... and going through Farmer Magot's field. And the beacon sequence was indeed great. Seeing pippin sneak up to the top of the wood pile and light it, and then wonder how he's going to get down, was pretty hilarious... and the actual shots of the mountain peaks were beautiful.

Other than that, I especially enjoyed the scenes in Rivendale and Lothlorien from the first movie. Loved seeing where the elves lived.

Wow... I'll need some seeeeerious thinking about these. You're virtually asking the impossible there!

hehe, I know Lanyare it is not easy:P

I was not able to answer firstly as well...but after time I came up to some ideas;)

I would say then that the best scene for me was the very first one (especially in the cinema) - when everything gets dark and you hear I amar prestar aen, han mathon ne nen.....'The world is changed; I can feel it in the water...." it always makes me shiver and eager that soon I will enter to the Middle Eart word...:)

Obviously I like scenes from the Shire, also the scenes when A/L/G chaseing Urukhai, scenes from Ithlien and of course the Pellenor Field Battle...well, and pictures of Rivendell and Lorien and Grey Heavens and...hehe, too many to mention;)

There are indeed too many to mention. :) I have yet to go through my DVDs to make a more comprehensive list.

I agree that Lothlorien and Rivendale in the first movie were nice to see - in a way, I missed them in the second and third films, though of course they have their own good settings.

I also liked the little section in the first movie between leaving Rivendale and coming to the Mines of Moria.

Hmm, this is not really a favourite scene, but I do very much like how Boromir's character has more nuances and depth in the Extended Edition of Fellowship.
At one point, when they're fighting off their first waves of Orcs at Dwalin's tomb in Moria, Aragorn saves Boromir's life, throwing a dagger to an Orc that surprised Boromor. The two of them, at that moment, share this look of understanding before turning back to the battle. It's one of my favourite Boromir/Aragorn interactions.

That's interesting... I knew there were more Boromir scenes in the EEs, but I don't remember seeing that particular moment you mention. I'll have to watch for it the next time I see the films. Thanks for pointing it out!

They actually give a short nod in recognition as well... Give it to me to notice everything that has to do with Aragorn, lol. :p

The Fellowship of the Ring - Moria defferently, I loved seeing the culture of the Dwarves, finally in 'The Hobbit' we can see much more.
The Two Towers - I loved the chase scene across the plains, so much drama and the camera work was brilliant.
The Return of the King - When Théoden and the army arrived at the Pelennor, loved his speach and then the charge.

I know what you Lanyare mean - I have notice this scene as well - anyway it's good they added some more scenes with Boromir - it giver more light to him.

Uh, I forgot about another favourite one (Lanyare will surely Agree;) ) when Aragorn sits in the corner of the room in Prancing Pony watching Hobbits. He just looked as a ranger shoud look...

Emmie: Aye, indeed... The added scenes in the Extended Edition add a lot more depth to Boromir. In the theatrical version, you're almost led to dislike him, to be honest. They make him more or less a contrary bully, and I didn't like that very much. In the Extended Edition, you also get to see his more noble character, and it's clearer that the Ring is having a bad influence on him.

Lol, and I wholeheartedly agree on that scene in the Prancing Pony!

The scene at the Shire was my favorite. The combination of the ambient music and the eden-like background is just so beautiful.
