You've got to be able to work in New Zealand (i.e. have a work permit) to apply, but the link above has information and advice on how to do so.

I wonder what the pay is like, due my life here now I cant afford to leave my country but if this was a few years back I would be on the plane to New Zealand getting a work permit :D

I'm curious about the pay as well. Though they could really pay whatever they wanted (or whatever the minimum wage was) and people would still be lining up to do it...

By the way, TheOneRing.net has a news post (http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2009/12/29/34778-wanna-audition-for-the-hobbit-update/) up claiming that this address may be wrong, but the original Noldor blog hasn't been updated to say that yet. So, I really have no idea what's actually going on.

I'm applying!:D I'm still waiting for my NZ residency, but I will probably have it within a couple weeks.

This page have got the same address: http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/film/3199553/Extras-sought-for-The-Hobbit

I think I might wait until the address has been confirmed, although I don't want to risk missing out on the oppurtunity because I was too slow...

That's amazing, Niniel! I didn't know you lived over there. If you observe anything related to the Hobbit over the next year, you'll have to come let the rest of us know. :)

And I'd love to hear about being an extra too, if you end up getting accepted, but I'm sure you'd be under a NDA type of thing...

Wow, good luck on that one Niniel!! Keep us posted as much as you can.

Thanks! It would be like a dream come true even if I only got cast as a dead orc:D

And if I do get to be an extra, I'll keep you updated as much as I can of course;)

Niniel, I hope you get it. And if you become a dead orc, well, go down swinging!

And I'd love to hear about being an extra too,
Ha, I read that as "an extra toe".

Weird how my mind works.

Erm.... Hobbit... Large hairy feet... toes? :p

I wonder how long it would take to have news, for someone who's applying. It's been almost a month now. No news is good news?

Is there even a definite address you can sent an application to? This (http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2009/12/29/34778-wanna-audition-for-the-hobbit-update/) (which I linked to in a previous post) says that the "new" address is wrong and that casting calls "will not be announced until February 2010".

Even if TORn is wrong and it was the right address, I'd think there is still plenty of time to be accepted, since filming hasn't started. :)

Lol, actually, for some reason I thought that casting was already well underway. Well, in any case, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for Niniel. Other than that, I think I'm fairly confident that they'll choose the right persons for the majour parts.
