Given that there seem to be a few World of Warcraft players in the Gaming [computers] thread (http://www.hobbitforums.com/showthread.php?t=77), I thought I might as well start this. :) I don't play WoW currently (and I may or may not go back to it someday), but I do have a level 80 character and I've been reading the news every week or two.
Anyway, Cataclysm: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/cataclysm/ The entire world is being changed, you can fly in all the old zones, you can be a Goblin or a Worgen or a Gnome Priest (among other things), and the old capital cities like Ironforge may actually be used on a regular basis by high-level characters.
Is anyone planning to get it? What are you looking forward to most?
Pre-ordered mine! I cant wait for this, I loved raiding in the 'Old World' and cant wait to go back. Also www.mmo-champion.com is great for news :)

Yep, mmo-champion is the site I usually like to look at for news. I have occasionally checked wow.com too, but they have so many non-news articles that it's easy to miss things.
The old world being relevant again is actually one of the things I'm most excited about. I don't necessarily care about things like Darkshore being flooded and the Barrens being split in two, but it will be nice to see level 80 (or 85) characters traveling through it again and spending time in the original capital cities. Plus there will be a new Blackrock Mountain instance. :)
I do hope that with any future expansions they will continue to make the old world important, in addition to any new zones they might add.

I have a level 36 mage, a gnome. Don't play a huge amount, but I'm having fun and I am looking forward to the content in Cataclysm, if I ever get that high.
Of course even if I don't the reinvented version of Azeroth will be fun to see... and I'm interested in starting a Worgen character, I love the Victorian feel of their starting zone.

Looks kinda cool. Anyone have thoughts? :D
I've said this before but we all need to game together :D

Aye, it seems the main problem is separate servers for different regions... and I'm not really sure what we can do about that. :\ Perhaps a year from now we'll have enough members for people in all regions to get together.
My account isn't active at the moment, and I'm not sure when or if I will activate it again. (It's the kind of thing I would like to have time for, but I'm not sure if I do.) But anyway, my characters are on Moon Guard (North America), and on the off chance that anyone else is playing there, you should let me know. :)
Regarding the new information: I like how Hyjal looks. I also like the changes to druids (which is the class I spent the most time with).

I just started playing again after a 6-month break. I hadn't really planned to play, but I was hacked and had to reactivate my account in order to log in and collect my stuff after the GM's rescued it. Aaand I was hooked again. My boyfriend too even. We're on Moonglade (EU) btw.
Anyways, we've been following all the news closely. I must say I am getting a bit sceptical about the destruction of old places, but then I've played WoW since right before Burning Crusade so some change is good I guess.
I'll probably try out a Worgen, not sure about what class yet. My boyfriend is rolling a mage so I'll find something that fits with that.
And Deadmines heroic, how awesome is that :D
I'm not a big raider though, but I think it's sad they're downgrading raiding. I guess it is to make more people able to raid but still, where is the challenge?

They "downgraded" raiding in Wrath of the Lich King, but I don't think they're doing it again, are they? Unless you mean how they're making the rewards for 10-person better, but I don't mind that too much because I liked that size better anyway. (According to this (http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=13816832302&pageNo=1&sid=1), they're even "upgrading" raiding in a way, by making epic gear more rare.)
What class do you play, Nilfy?
Also, people keep mentioning how much the Twilight Hinterlands look like the Shire. :) It'll be interesting to see more of them.

I just heard something about nerfing 40 and 25-man raids, but I guess that's just rumours :) If they're upgrading it, that's great.
I have a hunter, a priest and a druid in top levels, and lots of alts. (All alliance). I like playing hunter as dps, and healer as druid.
Twilight Hinterlands looks great :D

Ah, cool. :) I have a druid healer too. And a priest, though she's only level 30 or so.
I started to play WAR (Warhmmer Online), its a free trial to level 10 - great game so far :)
