The Hobbit Pushed to 2012?

Executives close to the project said that Warner Brothers is now likely to release the first film at the end of 2012, and not at the end of 2011 as had been hoped for by the fans. The second part would be pushed to 2013.

If they actually needed the extra time, I think it's good that they're going to take it. And even if I'm unhappy about added wait, it means that we have an extra year to ob sess over every little news release on the forums. :D

On the other hand it would have been nice for the Hobbit movie to release exactly 10 years after Fellowship. And I really hope the delay doesn't have anything to do with all the other releases coming in 2011 (Harry Potter, Spiderman 4, Tintin, Pirates 4, Batman 3), or with WB wanting to spread out their high-earning movies over several years.
