Not many details, but my first thought was a relaunch of lordoftherings.net. But who knows. Could also be an announcement about the film being greenlit or even a casting decision.

I was looking at lordoftherings.net today and I noticed that there's now a link to an official facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Lord-of-the-Rings-Trilogy-Official-Page/212216417436) for the trilogy, and it seems to have been edited quite recently. (The photo album was only uploaded yesterday.) I'm not sure what to make of it. It's almost certainly unrelated to the Dec. 15 accouncement, I guess, but it seems like an odd time to suddenly make a FB page years after Return of the King came out.

I really do hope that this 'something' will be something related to The Hobbit, and for example the bluray versions of the trilogy.

Hmm, as far as I know, it was an announcement concerning the theatrical versions of Lord of the Rings being available on bluray sometime in April. I had seriously hoped it would be something else, though.

Grr - that's a bit annoying. I read the announcement regarding the blu-ray yesterday, but it never occurred to me that it was the same one we'd been waiting for. I mean, the original post said "watch lordoftherings.net," and lordoftherings.net hasn't even been updated yet...

Well, I don't know of any other announcements, at least, and so doesn't The Council of Elrond. :(

As far as lordoftherings.net goes, I think it might have been updated right now. There's a big Ring twirling on there now, and it says that Lord of the Rings is coming on Blu-ray April 6, 2010. You can pre-order it there as well.
Mind you, it's only the theatrical versions for the moment. Extended Editions are at a later, for now unspecified date. I don't even have a blu-ray player just yet, so I really don't care all that much about them being available, at this time.

Seriously, I think most of us had hoped for more tangible news on The Hobbit.

Yeah. A bit disappointing. But I see the website has indeed been updated... I'm glad they still let you click through to the original site if you want to; it'd have been sad to see it gone.

I don't have a blu-ray machine either, so I'm not in any huge hurry for them to come out. It's hard to justify buying one when there are things I'd rather spend money on, and I doubt I would use it much except for Lord of the Rings - though I'm going to be very tempted when the extended editions come out.
